Ayatollah Khomeini – Reflection Or Misrepresentation of God?

Ayatollah Khomeini meaning in Farsi

The reflection of God, but in reality

This could be disputed wholeheartedly

Because misrepresentations diligently

Exert and assert their religious orthodoxy

Nevertheless this does not assure accuracy

According to religion, opinion, and divinity

The Ayatollah was asinine to very many

As for countless Iranians he was most holy

But as for his claim to fame, it’s controversy

A skillful political tool indeed for any clergy

To arrest the attention of media spiritually

Yet demonizing America so arrogantly

Taking U.S. hostages at the embassy

Keeping them for 444 days mercilessly

Although sending a message successfully

Awaking the world to a nation’s religiosity

While breeding intense hatred and animosity

Galvanizing a nation with anti-American oratory

Ousting the leading shah without hesitancy

Bringing about an ideological shift powerfully

Carving out for Iran a position internationally

Stopping capitalistic imperialists seeking oil only

At the expense of the Iranian people and economy

For all the wrong and hatred Khomeini created

We must also acknowledge sincerely and honestly

The pride he restored to his homeland and nation

Unfortunately it came through hostility and oppression

Rigid rules, uneasy tradition, and brutal extermination

Of dissidents, and for women the veil and imprisonment

Enslavement and removal of civil rights for the people

So Khomeini could have the facade of societal approval

A charade of monstrous proportions and distortions

An evil oligarchy and demonic theocracy for Khomeini

Mesmermize the masses masterfully against the mighty

“The great Satan” which has made the world drunk

By reason of its music, movies, TV, and media

Yet by simultaneously creating a terrorist state

A revolution of hate and death is Khomeini’s fate.

4th of July Message to United States of America from Benjamin Franklin

Happy 4th of July to you…and a message below from Benjamin Franklin, the man who drafted the Constitution and helped achieve our independence.

Nevertheless even with all our flaws, we still live in a great nation for which we can give God thanks. Yet if we don’t learn from the men who framed the Constitution and birthed our independence, are we not destined to lose it?

And if such were to occur, would we not be resolute to fall on our knees and return to the God of our forefathers (two-thirds of the signers of the Declaration of Independence being graduates from Biblical seminaries) and hearken to the principles of government they first established? Why than shall we not remove ourselves from the present day vanity and give heed to the ancient and timeless principles of good government to today secure the union?

Rules By Which A Great Empire May Be Reduced To A Small One

[Presented privately to a late Minister, when he entered upon his Administration; and now first published.]

An ancient Sage valued himself upon this, that tho’ he could not fiddle, he knew how to make a great City of a little one. The Science that I, a modern Simpleton, am about to communicate is the very reverse.

I address myself to all Ministers who have the Management of extensive Dominions, which from their very Greatness are become troublesome to govern, because the Multiplicity of their Affairs leaves no Time for fiddling.

  1. In the first Place, Gentlemen, you are to consider, that a great Empire, like a great Cake, is most easily diminished at the Edges. Turn your Attention therefore first to your remotest Provinces; that as you get rid of them, the next may follow in Order.
  2. That the Possibility of this Separation may always exist, take special Care the Provinces are never incorporated with the Mother Country, that they do not enjoy the same common Rights, the same Privileges in Commerce, and that they are governed by severer Laws, all of your enacting, without allowing them any Share in the Choice of the Legislators. By carefully making and preserving such Distinctions, you will (to keep to my Simile of the Cake) act like a wise Gingerbread Baker, who, to facilitate a Division, cuts his Dough half through in those Places, where, when bak’d, he would have it broken to Pieces.
  3. These remote Provinces have perhaps been acquired, purchas’d, or conquer’d, at the sole Expence of the Settlers or their Ancestors, without the Aid of the Mother Country. If this should happen to increase her Strength by their growing Numbers ready to join in her Wars, her Commerce by their growing Demand for her Manufactures, or her Naval Power by greater Employment for her Ships and Seamen, they may probably suppose some Merit in this, and that it entitles them to some Favour; you are therefore to forget it all, or resent it as if they had done you Injury. If they happen to be zealous Whigs, Friends of Liberty,[1] nurtur’d in Revolution Principles, remember all that to their Prejudice, and contrive to punish it: For such Principles, after a Revolution is thoroughly established, are of no more Use, they are even odious and abominable.
  4. However peaceably your Colonies have submitted to your Government, shewn their Affection to your Interest, and patiently borne their Grievances, you are to suppose them always inclined to revolt, and treat them accordingly. Quarter Troops among them, who by their Insolence may provoke the rising of Mobs, and by their Bullets and Bayonets suppress them. By this Means, like the Husband who uses his Wife ill from Suspicion, you may in Time convert your Suspicions into Realities.
  5. Remote Provinces must have Governors,[2] and Judges, to represent the Royal Person, and execute every where the delegated Parts of his Office and Authority. You Ministers know, that much of the Strength of Government depends on the Opinion of the People; and much of that Opinion on the Choice of Rulers placed immediately over them. If you send them wise and good Men for Governors, who study the Interest of the Colonists, and advance their Prosperity, they will think their King wise and good, and that he wishes the Welfare of his Subjects. If you send them learned and upright Men for Judges, they will think him a Lover of Justice. This may attach your Provinces more to his Government. You are therefore to be careful who you recommend for those Offices. — If you can find Prodigals who have ruined their Fortunes, broken Gamesters or Stock-Jobbers, these may do well as Governors; for they will probably be rapacious, and provoke the People by their Extortions. Wrangling Proctors and petty-fogging Lawyers too are not amiss, for they will be for ever disputing and quarrelling with their little Parliaments. If withal they should be ignorant, wrong-headed and insolent, so much the better. Attorneys Clerks and Newgate Solicitors will do for Chief-Justices, especially if they hold their Places during your Pleasure: — And all will contribute to impress those ideas of your Government that are proper for a People you would wish to renounce it.
  6. To confirm these Impressions, and strike them deeper, whenever the Injured come to the Capital with Complaints of Mal-administration, Oppression, or Injustice, punish such Suitors with long Delay, enormous Expence, and a final Judgment in Favour of the Oppressor. This will have an admirable Effect every Way. The Trouble of future Complaints will be prevented, and Governors and Judges will be encouraged to farther Acts of Oppression and Injustice; and thence the People may become more disaffected, and at length desperate.
  7. When such Governors have crammed their Coffers, and made themselves so odious to the People that they can no longer remain among them with Safety to their Persons, recall and reward them with Pensions. You may make them Baronets too, if that respectable Order should not think fit to resent it. All will contribute to encourage new Governors in the same Practices, and make the supreme Government detestable.
  8. If when you are engaged in War, your Colonies should vie in liberal Aids of Men and Money against the common Enemy, upon your simple Requisition, and give far beyond their Abilities, reflect, that a Penny taken from them by your Power is more honourable to you than a Pound presented by their Benevolence. Despise therefore their voluntary Grants, and resolve to harrass them with novel Taxes. They will probably complain to your Parliaments that they are taxed by a Body in which they have no Representative, and that this is contrary to common Right. They will petition for Redress. Let the Parliaments flout their Claims, reject their Petitions, refuse even to suffer the reading of them, and treat the Petitioners with the utmost Contempt. Nothing can have a better Effect, in producing the Alienation proposed; for though many can forgive Injuries, none ever forgave Contempt.
  9. In laying these Taxes, never regard the heavy Burthens those remote People already undergo, in defending their own Frontiers, supporting their own provincial Governments, making new Roads, building Bridges, Churches and other public Edifices, which in old Countries have been done to your Hands by your Ancestors, but which occasion constant Calls and Demands on the Purses of a new People. Forget the Restraints you lay on their Trade for your own Benefit, and the Advantage a Monopoly of this Trade gives your exacting Merchants. Think nothing of the Wealth those Merchants and your Manufacturers acquire by the Colony Commerce; their encreased Ability thereby to pay Taxes at home; their accumulating, in the Price of their Commodities, most of those Taxes, and so levying them from their consuming Customers: All this, and the Employment and Support of Thousands of your Poor by the Colonists, you are intirely to forget. But remember to make your arbitrary Tax more grievous to your Provinces, by public Declarations importing that your Power of taxing them has no Limits, so that when you take from them without their Consent a Shilling in the Pound, you have a clear Right to the other nineteen. This will probably weaken every Idea of Security in their Property, and convince them that under such a Government they have nothing they can call their own; which can scarce fail of producing the happiest Consequences!
  10. Possibly indeed some of them might still comfort themselves, and say, `Though we have no Property, we have yet something left that is valuable; we have constitutional Liberty both of Person and of Conscience. This King, these Lords, and these Commons, who it seems are too remote from us to know us and feel for us, cannot take from us our Habeas Corpus Right, or our Right of Trial by a Jury of our Neighbours: They cannot deprive us of the Exercise of our Religion, alter our ecclesiastical Constitutions, and compel us to be Papists if they please, or Mahometans.’ To annihilate this Comfort, begin by Laws to perplex their Commerce with infinite Regulations impossible to be remembered and observed; ordain Seizures of their Property for every Failure; take away the Trial of such Property by Jury, and give it to arbitrary Judges of your own appointing, and of the lowest Characters in the Country, whose Salaries and Emoluments are to arise out of the Duties or Condemnations, and whose Appointments are during Pleasure. Then let there be a formal Declaration of both Houses, that Opposition to your Edicts is Treason, and that Persons suspected of Treason in the Provinces may, according to some obsolete Law, be seized and sent to the Metropolis of the Empire for Trial; and pass an Act that those there charged with certain other Offences shall be sent away in Chains from their Friends and Country to be tried in the same Manner for Felony. Then erect a new Court of Inquisition among them, accompanied by an armed Force, with Instructions to transport all such suspected Persons, to be ruined by the Expence if they bring over Evidences to prove their Innocence, or be found guilty and hanged if they can’t afford it. And lest the People should think you cannot possibly go any farther, pass another solemn declaratory Act, that `King, Lords, and Commons had, hath, and of Right ought to have, full Power and Authority to make Statutes of sufficient Force and Validity to bind the unrepresented Provinces IN ALL CASES WHATSOEVER.’ This will include spiritual with temporal; and taken together, must operate wonderfully to your Purpose, by convincing them, that they are at present under a Power something like that spoken of in the Scriptures, which can not only kill their Bodies, but damn their Souls to all Eternity, by compelling them, if it pleases, to worship the Devil.
  11. To make your Taxes more odious, and more likely to procure Resistance, send from the Capital a Board of Officers to superintend the Collection, composed of the most indiscreet, ill-bred and insolent you can find. Let these have large Salaries out of the extorted Revenue, and live in open grating Luxury upon the Sweat and Blood of the Industrious, whom they are to worry continually with groundless and expensive Prosecutions before the above-mentioned arbitrary Revenue-Judges, all at the Cost of the Party prosecuted tho’ acquitted, because the King is to pay no Costs. — Let these Men by your Order be exempted from all the common Taxes and Burthens of the Province, though they and their Property are protected by its Laws. If any Revenue Officers are suspected of the least Tenderness for the People, discard them. If others are justly complained of, protect and reward them. If any of the Under-officers behave so as to provoke the People to drub them, promote those to better Offices: This will encourage others to procure for themselves such profitable Drubbings, by multiplying and enlarging such Provocations, and all with work towards the End you aim at.
  12. Another Way to make your Tax odious, is to misapply the Produce of it. If it was originally appropriated for the Defence of the Provinces and the better Support of Government, and the Administration of Justice where it may be necessary, then apply none of it to that Defence, but bestow it where it is not necessary, in augmented Salaries or Pensions to every Governor who has distinguished himself by his Enmity to the People, and by calumniating them to their Sovereign. This will make them pay it more unwillingly, and be more apt to quarrel with those that collect it, and those that imposed it, who will quarrel again with them, and all shall contribute to your main Purpose of making them weary of your Government.
  13. If the People of any Province have been accustomed to support their own Governors and Judges to Satisfaction, you are to apprehend that such Governors and Judges may be thereby influenced to treat the People kindly, and to do them Justice. This is another Reason for applying Part of that Revenue in larger Salaries to such Governors and Judges, given, as their Commissions are, during your Pleasure only, forbidding them to take any Salaries from their Provinces; that thus the People may no longer hope any Kindness from their Governors, or (in Crown Cases) any Justice from their Judges. And as the Money thus mis-applied in one Province is extorted from all, probably all will resent the Mis-application.
  14. If the Parliaments of your Provinces should dare to claim Rights or complain of your Administration, order them to be harass’d with repeated Dissolutions. If the same Men are continually return’d by new Elections, adjourn their Meetings to some Country Village where they cannot be accommodated, and there keep them during Pleasure; for this, you know, is your PREROGATIVE; and an excellent one it is, as you may manage it, to promote Discontents among the People, diminish their Respect, and increase their Dis-affection.
  15. Convert the brave honest Officers of your Navy into pimping Tide-waiters and Colony Officers of the Customs. Let those who in Time of War fought gallantly in Defence of the Commerce of their Countrymen, in Peace be taught to prey upon it. Let them learn to be corrupted by great and real Smugglers, but (to shew their Diligence) scour with armed Boats every Bay, Harbour, River, Creek, Cove or Nook throughout the Coast of your Colonies, stop and detain every Coaster, every Wood-boat, every Fisherman, tumble their Cargoes, and even their Ballast, inside out and upside down; and if a Penn’orth of Pins is found un-entered, let the Whole be seized and confiscated. Thus shall the Trade of your Colonists suffer more from their Friends in Time of Peace, than it did from their Enemies in War. Then let these Boats Crews land upon every Farm in their Way, rob the Orchards, steal the Pigs and Poultry, and insult the Inhabitants. If the injured and exasperated Farmers, unable to procure other Justice, should attack the Agressors, drub them and burn their Boats, you are to call this High Treason and Rebellion, order Fleets and Armies into their Country, and threaten to carry all the Offenders three thousand Miles to be hang’d, drawn and quartered. O! this will work admirably!
  16. If you are told of Discontents in your Colonies, never believe that they are general, or that you have given Occasion for them; therefore do not think of applying any Remedy, or of changing any offensive Measure. Redress no Grievance, lest they should be encouraged to demand the Redress of some other Grievance. Grant no Request that is just and reasonable, lest they should make another that is unreasonable. Take all your Informations of the State of the Colonies from your Governors and Officers in Enmity with them. Encourage and reward these Leasing-makers; secrete their lying Accusations lest they should be confuted; but act upon them as the clearest Evidence, and believe nothing you hear from the Friends of the People. Suppose all their Complaints to be invented and promoted by a few factious Demagogues, whom if you could catch and hang, all would be quiet. Catch and hang a few of them accordingly; and the Blood of the Martyrs shall work Miracles in favour of your Purpose.
  17. If you see rival Nations rejoicing at the Prospect of your Disunion with your Provinces, and endeavouring to promote it: If they translate, publish and applaud all the Complaints of your discontented Colonists, at the same Time privately stimulating you to severer Measures; let not that alarm or offend you. Why should it? since you all mean the same Thing.
  18. If any Colony should at their own Charge erect a Fortress to secure their Port against the Fleets of a foreign Enemy, get your Governor to betray that Fortress into your Hands. Never think of paying what it cost the Country, for that would look, at least, like some Regard for Justice; but turn it into a Citadel to awe the Inhabitants and curb their Commerce. If they should have lodged in such Fortress the very Arms they bought and used to aid you in your Conquests, seize them all, ’twill provoke like Ingratitude added to Robbery. One admirable Effect of these Operations will be, to discourage every other Colony from erecting such Defences, and so their and your Enemies may more easily invade them, to the great Disgrace of your Government, and of course the Furtherance of your Project.
  19. Send Armies into their Country under Pretence of protecting the Inhabitants; but instead of garrisoning the Forts on their Frontiers with those Troops, to prevent Incursions, demolish those Forts, and order the Troops into the Heart of the Country, that the Savages may be encouraged to attack the Frontiers, and that the Troops may be protected by the Inhabitants: This will seem to proceed from your Ill will or your Ignorance, and contribute farther to produce and strengthen an Opinion among them, that you are no longer fit to govern them.

Lastly, Invest the General of your Army in the Provinces with great and unconstitutional Powers, and free him from the Controul of even your own Civil Governors. Let him have Troops enow under his Command, with all the Fortresses in his Possession; and who knows but (like some provincial Generals in the Roman Empire, and encouraged by the universal Discontent you have produced) he may take it into his Head to set up for himself. If he should, and you have carefully practised these few excellent Rules of mine, take my Word for it, all the Provinces will immediately join him, and you will that Day (if you have not done it sooner) get rid of the Trouble of governing them, and all the Plagues attending their Commerce and Connection from thenceforth and for ever.

Islam and Muslim Protests in London, UK, and Europe – Impotence, Intolerance, and Violence

I received an email this morning picturing Muslims protesting on the streets of London, England with anger in their hearts, hatred in their mouths, and slogans of violence on signs in their hands. Is this the heart of God? I think not.
Among the disheartening images I saw, the unforgettable words on the signs read:
“Europe you will pay. Demolition is on its way.”
“Europe you will pay. Your extermination is on its way.”
“Butch those who mock Islam.”
“Europe is the cancer. Islam is the answer.”
“Islam will dominate the world.”
“Europe take some lessons from 9/11.”
“Europe you will pay. Your 9/11 is on its way.”
“Be prepared for the real holocaust.”
“Massacre those who insult Islam.”
“Exterminate those who insult Islam.”
“Behead those who insult Islam.”
“Slay those who insult Islam.”
They who seek to defend their religion with violence prove to the world that God is not in it. Cannot God defend Himself without human help? I think so. Yet when God is not in a man-made religion, religious followers must arise to kill, compel, and constrain people to obey its rigid and frigid tenets.
God is love and will defend the glory of His Name!

Have you forgotten “Thou shalt not take the Lord’s name in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless” (Exodus 20:7).  Muslims, Americans, Christians, and anyone who advocates killing in God’s name does not know the Lord (John 16:1-3). God Himself will uphold the honor of His name and judge those who advocate killing in His holy Name. God is a life giver, not a killer.
Jesus did not come to destroy lives, but to save lives (John 3:17).
They who kill innocent blood, there blood will be shed (Genesis 9:6).

What we tolerate will dominate. If the British permit this type of behavior on their streets, it will persist until they become fed up and swiftly deal with these evildoers.  Until the British awake to the backsliddeness of their hearts and destitute spiritual condition, Islamic fundamentalism and protests such as this on their streets must continue to intensify to get their attention. Spiritual battles require spiritual wisdom, power, love, and discipline to win (see 2 Corinthians 10:3-6).

The British must awake, arise, and boldly confront evil lest they be overtaken by it!
As for your remarks about political candidates, the hope of America and the world is not in elections but in Jesus Christ and His church.  Political candidates only serve to reveal the spiritual state of the people who elect them.

Overcoming Adversity Speaker to Revolutionize Your World – a Keynote to Empower You!

Paul F. Davis understands what it is to struggle and overcome adversity. Paul therefore can deeply touch and mightily transform humanity.

Paul’s selfless accomplishments and worldwide service in some of the most devastated regions on earth makes him an unforgettable speaker able to captivate any audience.

Paul F. Davis was born with pneumonia, after which he lived in an oxygen tent until he gained the strength to endure the outside elements. Paul cried so much during his infancy, he gave himself a hernia which required surgery to repair.
Once in the earth instead of ceasing, Paul’s struggles only intensified. His mother divorced his dad and became an alcoholic and drug addict. Growing up, Paul says, “My mom was either in one of three places: the bar getting drunk, in jail behind bars, or in a mental ward receiving rehabilitation.”

In the absence of his mother and father, Paul grew up with his maternal grandparents. Though Paul’s grandparents adored and cared wonderfully for him, they simultaneously battled to help Paul’s mother recover from substance abuse and mental illness caused by it. This was very embarrassing and difficult for Paul to endure as a youth growing up.

When Paul’s father remarried and gained custody of him, Paul had a hard time getting along with his step-mother who refused to pamper and spoil him as did his grandparents. Once Paul’s parents relocated him from Orlando to live in the country, at the age of 12 years Paul battled childhood depression and for a short while even contemplated suicide he so hated his life.

Nevertheless Paul determined to cultivate inner happiness, overcome his circumstances, and make something of his life. Paul became the most-improved student in 6th grade, excelled at baseball making the all-stars and leading his team to 1st place, winning the most games of any pitcher in the league.

Paul also reconciled with his step-mother who today he affectionately calls “Mom” and has a special relationship with. As for his grandparents, Paul during his adult life cared for them for 2 years before they passed as Paul didn’t want to put them in a nursing home after they were so good to him growing up.

Though Paul after 5 years of marriage suffered a horrible divorce due to his ex-wife’s infidelity and adulterous affair, he forgave her and happily moved on with his life. During his personal ground zero, Paul wrote Breakthrough For a Broken Heart empowering people just like him to overcome their disappointments and blossom into their dreams!

Today Paul is again happily married to the love of his life Karla, a gorgeous Canadian who is all he ever dreamed of in a wife. The two are traveling throughout the globe revolutionizing their world, making an amazing difference in the lives of people everywhere they go!

Make no mistake about it. When you need an “Overcoming Adversity” Keynote Speaker, Paul F. Davis is undoubtedly your go to guy to captivate and empower any audience.

Paul is an unforgettable person and purpose coach able to transform any individual and organization.

Extreme Prophetic – Your Paradigm Shift

The prophetic is always most wonderful
As the people on earth become spiritual
Move beyond the flesh and past the soul
Awaken within to their divine identity
Get clear on things and are made whole
The prophetic is more fun than the Super Bowl
Reclaim from them what fear and demons
Have over time cleverly and subtly stole
The prophetic uplifts you from depression’s hole
Perhaps inquisitively and rightly you say, “How so?”
Well, the prophetic reconnects you to the Creator
Quieting you within to hear your Maker’s voice
The voice of the Lord is power setting you free
Making you rejoice and dance within happily
As the breakthrough by the Holy Spirit comes
Into your glorious God given purpose you run
Becoming acquainted with your divine identity
You simultaneously awaken to your destiny
Both the eternal and earthly equally abundantly
As God gives you eyes to supernaturally see
Ears to intuitively inwardly connect and hear
Causing the priceless voice of God to be near
Near and dear, the Holy Spirit removes fear
Bringing forth supernatural operations and weapons
Empowering you mightily within to arise and win
Every battle you face, as you see the Lord’s face
Run the race, that He’s mapped out before you
Taking you from glory to glory, faith to faith
Strength to strength, and loving grace to grace
Enabling you to transcend every earthly limitation
As you feast on divine knowledge and revelation
Move in the miraculous bringing forth manifestations
To awaken skeptics, silence critics, and live in the fullness
Of Christ the King of glory, the captain of the hosts
Christ our portion, in whom our soul makes its boast.

O Ambassadors – Free The Children

I just watched Monday’s inspiring episode of Oprah partnering with Free The Children in Kenya forming O Ambassadors to build schools across the impoverished parts of the world. What’s special about this is the ambassadors are kids still in school here in America themselves desirious of changing their world.

As someone who has been to Africa 5 times, working in war-torn east Africa, I know firsthand the needs there. Kenya is just the beginning and actually one of the more prosperous countries in the region. Beyond Kenya, I also visited war-torn nations such as Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Uganda, and Mozambique. I remember seeing on TV years ago how one woman gave birth in a tree in Mozambique during a flood. Between Rwanda and Burundi during the genocide that plagued the small countries in 1994, 1.2 million people were slaughtered between tribal factions. I visited the site of the massacre and was heart broken to see the animosity that still exists.

My other African stops over 5 different trips also took me to Malawi, where a dictatorial President in power for 25 years forbid women to wear pants. Then in Tanzania just above Kenya I saw new development as they sought to catch up with developing Kenya.  As for Congo it has been ravished for years due to its rich mineral resources, blood diamonds, and mercenaries fighting for personal gain.

O Ambassadors is a bold move I commend, which shall change the world and the youth launching out into the deep to do so. Not only are youth going abroad and awaking to the blessings of America we so often take for granted, but they are being changed in the process as they enrich the lives of others.

The American church has lost the concept and importance of overseas missions as we build fancier buildings for ourselves to dwell in, but the true heart of God is about “seeking and saving the lost” (Luke 19:10) in the “uttermost parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Nothing is more important for children then to grow up with access to proper education and clean water.

Paul F Davis – president and founder of Dream-Maker Ministries (a nonprofit charitable organization) that has touched 50 countries thus far but is desiring to partner with concerned people and organizations to make a larger impact globally.

Burma’s Aung San Suu Kyi conferred honorary Canadian citizenship while under house arrest in Myanmar

Burma’s pro-democracy icon and Noble Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who is under house arrest, will be conferred an honorary citizenship by the government of Canada.

I think it’s so cool Burma’s human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Laureate who has struggled selflessly for years for the liberation of her people, will be honored in such a way.

My wife is Canadian and I think that’s a first class move of solidarity with Aung San Suu Kyi and the people of Burma.

I’ve been to Burma several times ministering in various churches covertly and was disgusted with the level of governmental corruption I experienced. From the time you go through customs and cross the border, the greedy government is in your pocket making you exchange $300 USD in exchange for the FEC (federal worthless currency), which even the locals don’t want. Then to be of any value in Burma you must exchange the FECs for chat (the local currency), which you lose about 7% value upon immedite exchange. So basically the government beyond the visa immigration fees, wants another $21 upon arrival per person for themselves.

What makes my blood boil is the way you can’t travel freely throughout Burma. Nevertheless I went to several black out zones to preach the Good News of Christ to former University students (who couldn’t attend University for a while because the ignorant and fearful government had for some time shut the Universities down in an effort to practice mind control and a futile attempt to rid the land of democratic ideals from the West).

Laugh out loud at such governmental stupidity! Now the monks and people throughout Burma are rising up and boldly challenging the military junta – some even dying for their battle for freedom. The recent cyclone that devastated the country showed the heart of the governmental junta who withheld foreign assistance and aid for weeks, fearing they’d lose control over the people.

I pray God Almighty breaks the back of the enemy and causes the evil to bow before the good in Burma and be brought to justice swiftly before international tribunals for crimes against humanity. I pray corrupt governmental officials in China backing this brutal regime in Burma also be brought to justice.

Spike Lee in Cannes Accuses Clint Eastwood of White Washing World War 2

*During a press conference in Cannes on Tuesday, filmmaker Spike Lee took director Clint Eastwood to task for failing to include a single African American soldier in his two recent WWII-themed films. Although hundreds of blacks fought in the battle for the Japanese island of Iwo Jima in 1945, none were present in Eastwood’s two movies about the historic struggle, “Flags Of Our Fathers” and “Letters From Iwo Jima.”

Perhaps getting some color in the White House will be good for America. Certainly having a black man in the White House will be good for the world who presently hate the United States according to Donad Trump who spoke candidly on the Big Idea about the failures of the Bush administration.

What Do Google and Saddam Have in Common? What Can Google Learn from National Geographic?

Dr. Trita Parsi (President of National Iranian American Council) and Babak Talebi wrote on article on May 14, 2008 titled What Do Google and Saddam Have in Common? originally published in The Huffington Post worthy of our time and attention.

It seems Google has a funny way of doing business — one that involves muddying politics in the Middle East. In recent months, the organization has taken the unprecedented step to rename internationally recognized bodies of water. Google Earth has begun using the controversial term “Arabian Gulf” to the body of water traditionally and internationally identified as the “Persian Gulf.”

Much is in a name as a name reveals an intended purpose and ideological persuasion.

In the Middle East, nothing is just a name. The Hebrews name their children intentionally using names that carry meaning and invoke their desirable destiny for each child.  With more than 180,000 US troops in this unstable region, being oblivious to the politics of geographical renaming is dangerous.

Historically, the accuracy of the term Persian Gulf is undisputed. Several legal documents from the United Nations as well as the United States Board of Geographic Names confirm the legitimacy of the term, as do millennia of classical history. For example, the ancient Greeks called the Persian Gulf, “Sinus Persicus,” the Romans called it “Mare Persicum,” and the Arabs called it, “Bahr al-Farsia.”

The political campaign to change the name Persian Gulf to the “Arabian Gulf” began approximately 50 years ago, as part of a pan-Arab strategy aimed at diminishing the status of non-Arab influences in the Middle East, including that of Iran and Israel.

It is a term whose very purpose has been to create divisions in an already divided region. Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser used it to rally the Arab masses against Israel and Iran. A decade later, Saddam Hussein used it to mobilize the Arabs in the war against Iran. Today, the term is frequently used by radicals and militants in the Middle East — again, with the aim to create divisions and fuel conflict.

Google now has the dubious distinction of joining Nasser and Saddam Hussein in this political campaign.

In February 2008, the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) sent a letter to Google’s CEO, Dr. Eric E. Schmidt, to explain the political background of the term and request that Google refrain from entering into the politics of geographical renaming and let the Persian Gulf remain the Persian Gulf.

More than three months later, Google has yet to formally respond to NIAC’s letter. In fact, the closest response NIAC has received is an ambiguous April 8 blog post on Google’s Public Policy Blog: “As the publishers of a geographic reference tool, we believe that Google should not choose sides in international geopolitical disputes. For this reason, we’ve chosen to implement a uniform policy of “Primary Local Usage.”
But what exactly is “Primary Local Usage”? And what is Google’ threshold of measurement?

Google defines its current policy of primary local usage as a combination of three separate markers (primacy, commonality, and locality) that they believe help Google avoid choosing “sides in international geopolitical disputes.”

According to a post on their public policy blog, the primacy marker means that out of each possible name only the most common name(s) for each body of water will be used. As for the commonality or the frequency of its use, a name must be widespread and not subject to arbitrary government renaming. Their final qualifier is the input of the neighboring nations that have a “stake” in the body of water; meaning that the deciding factor will be that neighboring nations all have input in potential names.

Although Google claims that this method allows for an “optimal combination of neutrality, objectivity, and legitimacy,” this unusual and uncharacteristically amorphous standard counteracts any “sensitivity” Google had hoped to convey.

In fact, it makes Google the very political tool it claims it seeks to avoid becoming.

In defense of its methods, Google has said that its safeguards will prevent a ruler from naming “the Pacific Ocean after her mother,” by requiring any potential name be commonly accepted by the general populace. Contrary to Google’s purported intentions, however, this policy actually opens the door for politically motivated geographical renaming.

By bypassing traditional academic sources, Google has turned itself into an enabler of those who would use name disputes to fuel conflict.

Had Google Earth existed in 1980 when Saddam Hussein first attempted to use the label “Arabian Gulf” as a way to rally support for invading Iran, it would have embraced the Iraqi dictator’s policy. By Google’s standards, Hussein’s arbitrary renaming would be (and is) a justifiable manipulation of geographical naming for political and divisive goals.

In fall 2004, the National Geographic Society (NGS) made a similar misstep by using the term Arabian Gulf for the Persian Gulf; but after a campaign led by the National Iranian American Council, the NGS recognized the folly of getting involved in the politics of geographical renaming and corrected their mistake in their 8th Edition maps.

Google could learn a thing or two from the NGS’s sensibility.
