Is DMAE safe for your skin? Watch for swelling of the skin.

I recently referred to my Natural Healing book (about the size of an encyclopedia volume) concerning anti-aging vitamins and nutrients for skin. Among the suggestions was something called DMAE. After visiting the Vitamin Shoppe and buying  a laundry list of vitamins, I began daily taking the supplements.

I also began applying freshly cut lemon to my skin and left it there during the day and at night while asleep. I began to notice my pores were getting cleaner, but my face seemed to be growing like Barry Bonds head on steroids. Not my desired look.

I stopped the lemon thinking it may be the culprit and began using Witch Hazel and a toner I bought while on a cruise. The swelling seemed to still be there. Then I investigated DMAE online and found the excerpt from the article below, the key points underlined for emphasis. If anybody has any experience with DMAE (and getting off it to reduce the swelling of the face), please let me know. I am taking 130mg capsule (which I will probably discontinue to see how this may reduce swelling of the skin).

Vacuolization is the development or formation of vacuoles (small cavities or space in the skin tissue) containing air or fluid. It’s kind of like when a guy uses steroids for muscular development or takes creatine, you retain water and blow up. Not a nice look in the face by any means.

DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a skin care ingredient enthusiastically touted by many skin care vendors. One of the reasons for its popularity is that it is one of the very few agents (perhaps even the only one) shown to produce some skin tightening and modestly reduce facial sag.

However, a 2007 study published in the British Journal of Dermatology raised safety concerns regarding topical DMAE. Dr. Morissette and colleagues, from the University of Quebec, studied the effect of DMAE in human skin cell cultures and rabbit skin.

The researchers found that adding DMAE to the cultures of fibroblasts (key type of skin cells) produced the effect known as vacuolization. Vacuolization is often observed in cells after various types of damage as cells try to encapsulate and excrete foreign agents and/or their own damaged components. Hence the researches concluded that the vacuolization induced by DMAE was suggestive of cell damage. They also observed that DMAE impaired the ability of fibroblasts to divide. Notably, the above adverse effects reversed after DMAE had been washed out of the culture following a short-term exposure. (Long-term exposure has not been studied.)

From Girls Gone Wild To God’s Gone Wild – Turning the Religious World Upside Down

Lifeguard, fitness trainer, and world traveler goes from being a Girls Gone Wild womanizer to a God’s Gone Wild minister rocking the planet, plundering hell, and populating heaven. Boldly revolutionizing the religious world, shaking theological boats, and reviving nations!

As a Florida lifeguard and fitness trainer meeting beautiful women was easy. Going to work included getting meeting chicks, getting phone numbers, and dating different ladies throughout the week – a kind of overflow of sorts from my work. Plus I was always checking out babes in bikinis or workout attire at the health club.

All the wild partying and craziness was fun but not exceedingly fulfilling. It was just entertaining and juvenile. Nevertheless what else was a young man to do with raging hormones and testosterone surging through my veins?

Well to my surprise one night while studying for some upcoming exams at UCF, I was getting a bit drowsy and thought I had better turn on the TV before I fall asleep. Flipping through the channels with the remote I did just that, haphazardly looking for something to watch.

It was then surprisingly I hit a religious channel that upon first glance I wasn’t all that interested in. Yet since the host of the program was inviting viewers at home to pray, I thought: “I will pray with you. I believe in God. I’ve got nothing to lose from saying a prayer.”

After praying a brief prayer in which I asked God to forgive my sins and Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit to come live big in my heart, I changed the channel, watched two more hours of TV, and went to bed.

Upon awaking the next morning, I felt an unusual and amazing fiery presence all over me and in me. I immediately remembered praying with the gentleman on TV the night before. I didn’t quite know what was happening to me, but I felt like a newborn baby, clean, pure, innocent, and intensely invigorated.

The peculiar experience was followed four days later by another supernatural visitation in which God’s Spirit touched me powerfully in a youth service a Marine friend of mine (with whom I jogged in the mornings) took me to. After having two burning bush experiences with my Creator in less than a week, I began getting very curious and interested in God. It was like I wanted to know why me all of the sudden. Why was God visiting me and so powerfully and supernaturally?

Since that time I have myself learned to move in the supernatural and launched God’s Gone Wild revolutionizing the religious world. I have touched over 50 countries and 6 continents and am doing things I had never planned or dreamed of. I had always thought I was just going to be a business man making mad money and chasing beautiful women.

Now I am happily married to a gorgeous Canadian entrepreneur and business owner who is better looking than Paris Hilton and all the rest of Hollywood. We’re together living la vida loca, traveling the globe, and getting crazy for God.

It just goes to show you if you keep an open heart anything can happen and often even better things than you could have accomplished in your own strength.

High School Class Reunion – Thoughts and Reflections

I’ve been bad by not staying in touch with my high school classmates. Yet had I done so I may not have grown into the man I now am. Some 20 years later I can truly enjoy meeting up with my high school mates and not just reflect on the past but rejoice in our future developments.

My Dad always told me the reunions got better at 20 years and beyond as much of the pretense had died by then and people mellowed out.

As for me I graduated from Clermont High School, class of 1987.  I was voted the funniest in my class. I guess because I was a bit of a clown and somewhat clueless about life in general. I’m still growing up today! LOL

Dream on! Dream on!

On May 21, 2008 just before awaking I had a dream wherein I Pastor Benny Hinn laid hands on me and briefly prayed for me saying, “Dream on! Dream on!”

Upon grabbing my Strong’s Concordance to do a word study of “dream” in the Hebrew I noticed the following definitions – to prop up, to bind firmly, to be plump, make plump, to be in good liking, and to recover.

That being said may the dream of God arise in you and enable you to fully recover from what you’ve been going through. May God Almighty arise in you and cause your gifts, talents, and abilities to flourish in the earth. Blossom like a radiant and beautiful flower.

For those of you weary in well doing and down trodden by life’s overwhelming circumstances, I pray that Jesus by the power of His Holy Spirit will wrap His arms of love around you, comfort, heal, nourish, and restore you to a state of wholeness.

Rest and rejoice in the Lord.  The battle belongs to the Lord.  Let the power of the resurrection flood to overflowing your spirit and soul, making you whole!

Breathe and believe.  Only believe and you will see the glory of God (John 11:40).

Truly with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27).
