A Beautiful Cardinal Flew Toward Me

As I walked into my bedroom what did I see?

I looked through the window in the distance

And to my great joy saw God answer for me

A personal prayer I had uttered weeks earlier

A simple and heartfelt request for a cardinal

A beautiful bird I had not seen in some time

Why I desired to see this beautiful red bird

I know not particularly, but it appealed to me

Perhaps cardinals in Florida are a bit of a rarity

Beyond the black birds and bluejays secondarily

From my days as a boy with a birdhouse out back

Sometimes the squirrels the bluejays would attack

Yet today this gorgeous cardinal with an orange beek

Was strangely still as he was listening for me to speak

Fully red from pointed fluffy head to luscious tail

Upon seeing this bird it made me feel quite well

Although in the distance sitting upon my fence

I somehow knew this lovely bird was God sent

For that Sunday in my office I had been writing

But not only writing, also whistling a worship song

A powerful church song in my spirit all the day long

Feeling a sense of sweet serendipity, I watched intently

When suddenly increasing my joy the bird flew to me

Drawing near to hear equally with intense curiosity

Surprisingly straight to me, directly toward the window

Stopping to rest just feet from me upon the clothes line

My spirit rejoiced within, my mind content and sublime

For not only was I aroused by nature but my loving Creator

Who truly answers my heartfelt prayer, proving He does care

Therefore I shall not be trapped by unbelief’s foul snare

Because I know my God knows atop my head every hair

My heavenly Father’s ears are open, His eyes looking down

Undoubtedly upon me His marvelous grace does abound.

A Memorable Wedding Ceremony – Wedding Officiant & Minister for Weddings

Tie the knot properly and make a memorable wedding. As you embark upon a love that lasts a lifetime, do it right. This is the biggest day of your life and not to be taken lightly.

You want to lay a strong foundation in your marriage. The bride has been imagineering this day all of her life and will also be remembering for the rest of her life. Therefore grooms should do themselves a favor and make the necessary investment to ensure a lifetime of happiness. Though it may seem to men a bit ridiculous and futile at times to get all worried about an event that will last a few hours, it is very important to the bride to have her day as a princess.

It never ceases to amaze me how couples will spend up to $1,000 on flowers for a wedding and not give much thought about the wedding minister who presides over the entire ceremony. It is a known fact that most church services and wedding ceremonies are terribly boring and unoriginal. It is a tragedy considering the sizeable investment.

I guess it doesn’t occur to most couples that they don’t have to be married in a church or use a stale, stoic priest to preside over their ceremony. Excessive tradition makes a wedding rigid and frigid. A wedding is to be a time for celebration and inspiration.

Hire a minister who is a skilled orator who can connect with and speak to hearts. Anybody can direct traffic from the platform, but only a minister inspired by God can speak elegantly, graciously, and wisely.

The more personal, the more powerful. Choose someone to officiate your wedding who is personal, creative, and fun.

Paul Davis is a wedding minister who officiates
marriage ceremonies and vow renewals. Paul has been in ministry for over 15 years, blessing people around the world. He has traveled to over 50 countries and 6 continents having a worldwide impact.

High School Class Reunion – Thoughts and Reflections

I’ve been bad by not staying in touch with my high school classmates. Yet had I done so I may not have grown into the man I now am. Some 20 years later I can truly enjoy meeting up with my high school mates and not just reflect on the past but rejoice in our future developments.

My Dad always told me the reunions got better at 20 years and beyond as much of the pretense had died by then and people mellowed out.

As for me I graduated from Clermont High School, class of 1987.  I was voted the funniest in my class. I guess because I was a bit of a clown and somewhat clueless about life in general. I’m still growing up today! LOL

Seasons of Suffering

Seasons of suffering

Dear God, will they ever end?

Seasons of suffering

Bringing me to my wits end

Seasons of suffering

Teaching me heartfelt obedience

To live in the realm of the Spirit

Seasons of suffering

Until I embrace and hear it

God Almighty come and stop it!

Seasons of suffering

Grinding down my motives

Seasons of suffering

Persistent like a locomotive

Seasons of suffering

Continually coming

Although I be running

Sometimes in anger cursing

Always hating and resisting

Such perilous times and measures

Yet within my heart is a treasure

A far greater weight of God’s glory

Therefore He applies divine pressure

To change my wayward character

To rewrite my pitiful life story

To add integrity when I don’t care

To give me peace deep within

When I want to pull out my hair

To calm my nerves, silence the storms

Help a heart that is worn and forlorn

To uplift my spirit when I feel like a worm

To encourage my heart when I wish to depart

To comfort my soul and make me whole

To restore to me what the devil has stole

Seasons of suffering not always as they seem

For in actuality God is good when He seems mean

Nevertheless when you learn the life lessons

He’s endeavoring to instruct and teach

In the end you shall rejoice and be complete.

Therefore surrender to your heavenly Father

Your distant heart, dirty hands, and frail feet.

Relationship Advice: Why people say mean things

Friends sometimes say mean or humiliating things because often unbeknownst to them they project on to others how they feel about themselves. Other motivations causing such verbalization of cruelty is the reality that you cannot be their all in all and fill their bottomless emotional pit.

People often look for someone relationally to fill them only to later discover after the initial infatuation and illusion wears off that everybody possesses some humanity.  Many have not yet learned that happiness is an inside job and therefore put unrealistic expectations on people to fulfill them.  When their expectations aren’t met, they explode and become cruel and hateful.

Why Moms are Mean – Frustrated, Angry, and Irritable

Moms become mean when they give their lives away to everybody else and have no time or life left for themselves.

Properly handling feelings of rejection is important to bounce back and be whole.  When you are willing to be brutally honest with yourself, face your past hurts, examine your internal world, and process your pain you can experience a breakthrough.

Coworkers Driving You Nuts – What Do Your Coworkers Do That Drive You Crazy?

My co-workers come into my office too often and break my focus, hindering my work productivity. Talking about non-work related matters, complaining about their latest irritation, and calling to ramble on about nothing of importance.

As a conflict resolution specialist and life coach, I suggest the following to deal with such annoyances.

1. Don’t answer the telephone when you are working.

2. Screen calls and attend to only those that are important.

3. Lock your office door.

4. Put in ear plugs while working at your cubicle to minimize distractions.

5. Politely ask your co-workers not to disturb you.

6. Ask your boss to relocate you to a more quiet place in the office so you can minimize distractions and be more productive.

7. Tell your colleagues at work your ears aren’t garbage cans, neither are you a dumping ground for all their complaints. Tell them to be proactive and solve their own problems.

Intimidated Or Motivated?

Intimidated or motivated?
An enlightening question indeed
One worth always asking yourself
Whenever tempted to withdraw
Fearfully remove yourself from
Disdain, disregard, and shun
A diligent person of purpose
Just because you simply sense
A bit of insecurity and comparison
Causing instability and apprehension
Producing timidity and alienation
A preference to shrink back
Avoid and hide in isolation
Missing a marvelous blessing
Of generative collaboration
Ingenious cross pollination
Potent and rich fertilization
Be a man and don’t run
From a divine visitation
In which a new creation
Might be gloriously birthed
Value each other’s worth
Celebrate each other’s gifts
Acknowledge and honor
Don’t be quick to dismiss
Instead of being intimidated
Arise and be greatly motivated
For many fools have deviated
Been dwarfed and diminished
By the great accomplishments
Outstanding achievements
Sacred abilities and talents
Of other unique human beings.
Let us be friends and not fiends
Uplift and honor, not demean
Realize things are not always
As immediately they do seem
For we misinterpret people
Misconstrue sudden situations
Misappropriate our positions
Misuse our precious influence
Withdrawing, removing, denying
The pleasant hand of friendship
Connection and comradery
Which should be given graciously
Kindness granted generously
On the contrary, we pathetically
Think only about self and poor me
When we should show diplomacy
Build bridges among ourselves
Endeavor to interact peaceably
Engage one another personally
Expand ourselves professionally
Network and enlarge our niche
Rid ourselves of the insidious snitch
The snarling, disgruntled fit we pitch
Tendency to gossip and accuse
Those who do so always lose
Before trying to leverage and use
Let us embrace something new
Play and work together elegantly
Be motivated and inspired greatly
Rejoice in each other’s success
Sincerely and wholeheartedly.

Wedding Minister – A Priest & Officiant Who Can Dance & Celebrate!

Who said wedding ministers can’t be creative, dance, and celebrate? Mr. Miagee on the movie Karate Kid said, “Never trust a spiritual leader who can’t dance.”

The last wedding I officiated, after the dinner everybody headed to the dance floor. Many were surprised to see me the wedding minister dancing and rejoicing. Though I got many compliments for the wedding ceremony I performed and was warmly received by everyone, I guess dancing is not the norm for most traditional religious guys.

As for me, I believe a wedding is meant to be an unforgettable celebration to be enjoyed by all. Therefore I did not hold back and went straight out to the dance floor with my wife in hand. We had a blast dancing beneath the stars, while we soaked up the cool spring breeze.

The Bible exhorts us to dance, make merry, and rejoice in the Lord. We should praise the Lord with every available instrument holding nothing back. Let everything that has breath rejoice in the Creator (Psalm 149).

The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). That being said it is right and proper that we should exuberantly celebrate every wedding with joy and dancing. Jesus performed His first miracle at the wedding in Cana, where He turned water into wine (John 2).

A couple deserves to have a personalized and creatively tailor made ceremony. Anything less is average and borders mediocrity. A wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event that should be extraordinary in every detail, the most important being the minister who officiates and speaks to the hearts of all present.
